Marian Varsity Golf Advances to MHSAA State Finals

Bloomfield Hills, MI - The Marian High School Varsity Golf team is headed to the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals after an outstanding performance at Regionals, where the Mustangs' depth, consistency, and composure earned them a top finish and a place among Michigan's best.

Competing against some of the strongest programs in the region, Marian posted a team total of 341, finishing second overall to secure their berth in the state finals.

Regional Standouts

Leading the charge for the Mustangs was Pippa Dawson, who fired a remarkable 76 to take first place individually at Regionals. Dawson's round was highlighted by sharp iron play and steady putting that anchored the team's success. Her standout season was also recognized with All-League honors for her consistent excellence throughout conference play.

Supporting Dawson were several strong rounds that showcased the team's balance and reliability:

Turkot also earned All-Academic honors, a testament to her commitment to excellence both on the course and in the classroom.

Each player's performance contributed key strokes that kept Marian among the top contenders all day, reflecting the team's collective focus and determination.

Coach Braisted's Perspective

Head Coach Leon Braisted praised the team's growth and unity throughout the season.

"This group has worked incredibly hard and trusted each other every step of the way," Braisted said. "They've improved with every match, and this result shows how much belief and teamwork can accomplish."

Looking Ahead

The Mustangs now turn their attention to the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals, set for October 17-18 at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek. Marian will compete against the top programs in Michigan for a chance to close out their season with a strong finish on the state's biggest stage.
